Authors: Amjad Hadjikhani; Nazeem Seyed-mohamed

This is a paper about Business Relationship Initiation. Much studies have focused on relationships, relationship mainatnence and relationship development. Very little research is found today about relationship dissolution and relationsip initiation. Having the focus on  How a Business Relationship initiates and develops the material for the study is a case in the automobile industry. On the basis of  Social Network Theory a model is formulated to account for initiation of business relationship as a consequence of the existence of weak ties and structural holes in the network structure. This case supports the view that implicit network knowledge, weak ties and structural holes in business networks are useful and supporting components for firms to initiate new business and business relationships.
