The topic of the comprehension and interpretation of network dynamics is addressed in this paper. Based on two African ports case studies, a dynamic cube model is proposed. Our results show that an interpretative model may assist in the comprehension of the reality of business networks in their complexity, interactivity and interdependency. The Network Rubik’s Cube model is a thought provoking, combination helping framework. The model highlights the fact that there is neither a sole path to success, nor a sole combination of factors that provides success.
