Timing of Strategic Actions in Internationalization Processes Involving Intermediaries-A Network Perspective

Authors: Lars-Gunnar Mattsson; Per Andersson

When a strategic action is committed during a firm“s internationalization process is of importance because opportunities and restrictions change over time due to concurrent internationalization of other firms in its market context. The analytical problems and purpose of the paper are connected to this basic assumption. The paper discusses the timing issue in general and with reference to internationalization in a markets-asnetworks perspective and to a case of internationalization of anintermediary in the electronic components industry. A conceptualframework for analysis of timing is developed and a research agenda is suggested.
