Authors: Espen Gressetvold

Product development and the development of a network of relationships are both ofgreat concern to many companies. This is confirmed by considerable research inboth of these areas. For a company, product development and development of anetwork of relationships may be regarded as two connected processes. This paper presents literature reviews describing product development anddevelopment of a network of relationships respectively as two processes that areimportant to companies. This is followed by a presentation of Nordic VLSI as thefocal company of the thesis as well as the semiconductor industry of which it is apart. Nordic VLSI’s development of a product for VingCard as one of its customers ispresented to illustrate that the two processes can be viewed as connected.
