The paper gives some background to the position of the company, briefly discusses supply chain relationships and describes the evolution of a collaborativeR&D approach to innovative product and process development in a business environmentwhere there may be significant discontinuities between projects. Project factors were theneed for fast-tracked development, integration with a customer product developmentprogram and the management of multiple risk factors. A transaction oriented networkmodel approach is used to characterize some of the actor and environment contingentoutcomes observed.
